Success for one of my milkweed images

I just got word that a 13 x 19 (A3+) print of one of my milkweed images--one that I think I posted here at some point--has been accepted for the biennial Art of the Hills exhibition at the Berkshire Museum in western Massachusetts (assuming that COVID allows the exhibit to happen). This is an exciting first for me. Here's the image:

Congratulations Dan! Well done and I know exactly how you must be feeling right now.

Being recognized by experts for an exhibition certainly validates your artistry and skill.

For people that have never gone through this type of process, the competition is fierce and the number of high quality images that the selection committee has to go through is usually quite large. The timing could be unfortunate, as the impact of COVID-19 on events like these is not helpful.

    Congratulations Dan...

    A well deserved honor...

This year, I had finally selected a group of images to enter into the Photo Exhibition at the San Diego County Fair which is a large and rather prestigious exhibition.

The way that the exhibition is organized is that potential exhibitors submit their entries in JPEG form. Only, if the image survives the cull from the JPEGS submitted is the photographer required to submit the image in print format. Then the prints are then exhibited at the Fair and the final judging is done from the prints.

This saves a photographer the effort and expense of printing an image which will not be exhibited.

Good system but, sadly no San Diego County Fair this year due to COVID-19 precautions...

    Thanks, everyone.

The exhibit isn't just photography; it was open to any genre, and neither of the jurors is a photographer. I am really looking forward to seeing the mix of art, if they manage to open the hold the exhibit. However, I'm not optimistic that the exhibit will happen at it's currently scheduled time because of COVID-19. New York is the most severely affected, and Massachusetts is badly affected as well, although not as badly. Berkshire County, where this museum is located, constitutes the border between NY and MA and has been fairly hard hit even, although it is mostly rural. The museum director wrote that it may be delayed if June is too early to open safely.

Still, it's exciting to be chosen.
