    Coloring the Sky

    Still learning Layers and Masking, I played with a sunset shot in the GIMP.

    Original capture, none too exciting, IMO:

    Thanks Grahame, Raymond and Manfred.

    I still have much to learn but I can now see the advantages gained.

    Just this very day I was able to post elsewhere a flower shot that had a bothersome background - but no longer after I darkened it and lowered the saturation, the while retaining the flower chroma/lightness and adjusting the flower hue a tad in a desirable direct and, tsk, I might even have upped the chroma a bit. Voila:

    Fortunately, the background color was a complement of the petal color but even so and for a different subject I could have adjusted the background hue or just colorized it.

    Nice images. (I read the "Voila" before the link as "Viola" and although it's not, it sort of looks like it could have been that too).
