Re: Silence Blue Photo
Hello kaskais, great photo! It has a neat surreal look to it. I like the off-center, near-silhouetted person and the opposing empty boats.
If you are seeking feedback, I think it could be improved by placing the horizon such that the image becomes two-thirds sea and one-third sky. This would also serve to place more emphasis on what is in my opinion the most surreal parts of the photo. As far as post-processing, I think the upper sky would be stronger if it weren't as blue and overpowering. It looks like the blue color channels have been clipped in this region, as I measure that most of it is 10,0,255 (R,G,B). On the other hand, maybe this was the artistic intent.
Just my opinions though. Would be interested to hear what others think.

Re: Silence Blue Photo
I really like it! It's very serene and peaceful. I do agree that the blue seems to be maxed out in the upper portion, but this does create a more artistic look.
Cheers!

Re: Silence Blue
Very nice photo.
As the McQ mentioned, one thing I would've done differently is align the horizontal line (horizon) at or near a third of the frame versus center.
I also wonder if stopping down the aperture would've possibly yielded a sharper image. I always try for f/8 or f/11 since most lenses seem to perform best at those apertures. I am not sure that the effect would be seen on screen, but it might have a visible effect on large print I would imagine. What do you think?

Re: Silence Blue
It would be interesting to know the intent regards the blue sky. It is a little too overpowering for me considering the subtlety of the rest of the shot.
A few years ago I was out in Scotland but with only a very basic Nikon compact, and the passing scene had similar elements. However on that occasion I decided that the plain shot needed something extra so I changed the whole white balance for incandescence lighting and for such a co-incidental shot taken on the hoof as it were, it created quite a pleasing result..... Just experimenting as you do.
I would upload it as an attachment but seem to be having no luck with that option, so perhaps I should go back and read the instructions

Thanks to everybody for the comments. I don’t replay because my English is not good enough for sustain a technique conversation about the photos. Thanks again.
