Interesting shot! Reminds of the quip, "How do you count a herd of cows (or deer)?" "You count their legs and divide by four"

I agree with Richard, and interesting shot. It's a look that I see from deer quite often. There are quite a few in the area and when we are out bicycling late early in the morning or late in the day we often see them at the edge of the forest. When I see that look I know that if I take another step or two in their direction, then they will bolt.

Too bad about the bright orange tubes sticking out of the ground. They are a major distraction. The B&W image reduces their impact a little, but not enough to reduce the distraction all that much. High contrast areas of the image draw our attention, and they are high contrast in both versions.

It's that deer in the headlights look ;-). We have a gazillion deer here, a big fear on a motorcycle.
I don't know what settings you use, but this just looks a little soft to me. I think I've commented on another of your images with the same thing. Also, too bad you cut their legs in half.
