    Room - Agra Fort

Agra Fort is not far from its more famous neighbour, the Taj Mahal in the Indian city of Agra.

Part of the fort is open to visitors, but the Indian military uses part of it, so those areas are off limits. Like some of the other Indian forts, was much more than that; a walled city with a royal palace that housed the the Mughal rulers.

I liked this empty room and the bright light streamed through one of the doors. I waited until someone stepped through the door to block some of the light and then took this shot. I decided to go B&W because the walls and ceiling were a much warmer tone than the floor and this gave a more homogeneoous look to the image.

    Hi Manfred,
    Niece picture.
I was tempted to give more punch to that monochrome photo. That's just my point of view, I have not been there!

Thanks Jean - the more punch works well. I'll probably do something along these lines. More micro-contrast will be an improvement . A was also thinking of going more to a sepia look, rather than pure B&W as well. I think I still need to burn down a few hot spots and dodge a few of the darker areas and bring out some texture in places.

For sure sepia will work and will appear not far from the "color" version.

    Here's the colour version.

    Room - Agra Fort

The whole room and the light were very monochrome.

This part is not very colorful, indeed.
When we have been here for the first time some 15 years (or 20 ?) ago we came into one room which had small mirrors and paintings on the vaulted ceiling. Back then, our guide told that it was to light candles and watch the reflected lights while with women.

But, many years later the entrance was forbidden and there was even a guard outside.
We noticed in other visits to India that, after 20 years, many restrictions were imposed to visitors because... there are - or were - too many of them and the breath was deteriorating the paintings.

I think this happens all over the World. Before Covid that is. I wonder how long will it take for the flux to re-star...

I do not remember the places as you do, but I found this one when I was doing that silly signature at the bottom right !

Antonio - when we were there almost 6 years ago, much of the fort was not accessible to visitors.

We were told that parts of the fort were used by the Indian military and those areas and areas close to it were closed for security reasons.

For this scene, colour feels more appropriate to me, and even more so when a more punchy effect, as suggested by Jean, is applied.
