    A friend's daughter

Taken at a ruined abbey during a photo club "deconfinement" picnic. Lea has the makings of a good model - infinite patience !

Natural light 90° camera right, balanced up a bit with a gentle in-fill flash 45° camera left.

It would be nice if you including the image...

A nicely taken image. I'm sure your friend will be happy with this beautiful image of his daughter.

I see you started to clean up a few distractions, but stopped a bit short, I think.

    1. The light part of the wall that sticks out of her head is definitely a distraction. I'd try to burn that down so that it is not as noticeable.

    2. The flower on the left would be less of a distraction if it were darkened up a touch.

    3. Some of the grass that is on her face and hand would be better if it weren't there. It is best to physically remove it before taking the shot.

    4. A few minor other things can be toned down too.

@manfred Thanks for your comments. Regarding the distractions - yes, I do agree, especially removing the grass in front of her face. Comes with experience I guess, but I simply did not "see" it when taking the shot - it would have saved an age of retouching had I removed it. Not the first time that has happened, something I need to be on the lookout for !

David I still don't get your photo. I get Manfred's image of it though.

@royent That's odd - I can see it and so could Manfred...?

The reason I know about it is that I have run into that problem too in some of the images I took in the past.

Now it is something I tend to watch for, but still sometimes miss.

A lovely young lady, I agree with Manfred’s advice, particularly the lighter area that appears to be growing out of her head.
I was once told our eye is drawn to the sharpest or brightest area in the scene.

That would be the brightest or highest contrast area, not the sharpest area, Kay. That is just a fact of human physiology; i.e. the way our visual system works.
