Win 10 upgrade Colour Profile loss and quirk

    Just for info ..................................

Having undertaken the latest full Win 10 upgrade a couple of days ago my screen colours were off so I decided rather than just reset my default colour profile to my last calibrated one I would re-calibrate. Once done and the new profile set at default all was back to normal.

Late last night I noticed the screen colour had changed from what it had been although I had altered nothing. The following morning it was back to 'correct'.

What I found is that the upgrade had defaulted a System 'Colour Night Light' setting (user adjustable) that warms the colours to come 'ON' at 9 pm. This function may have been there before and turned off but I had never been aware of it.

Yes, Microsoft and others have introduced this function because some studies suggested that the blue light from computer screens may interfere with sleep patterns. They turn on a "warm" mode to try to counteract this, but the unfortunate effect is that it totally mucks up the colours.

I have disabled this lovely functionality on all my devices...
