    Everyday people of Vietnam

I am not a portrait or people style photographer. My main subjects are landscapes and wildlife. But, a 3 week trip to Vietnam had me rethinking of subject matter. I found the people there very photogenic and obliging to let you photograph them. I got to walk around local markets, the Imperial City in Hue and other places off the beaten path. Here are a few of my favorites.

A local market near my sister in law's house. I don't think they've seen too many foreigners there by the looks I got. But, they were not unfriendly looks. Just curiosity more than anything.

A woman, also in the Imperial City in Hue, that was making the traditional hats the country is famous for.

The universal mode to transport ANYTHING. The Vietnamese version of an SUV. This was in downtown Da Nang.

Love these. Colours are great and the people are in context.

Great images Brian. I have not been to Vietnam (yet), but I have spent a lot of time in Asia and have always enjoyed watching ordinary people going about their daily routines.

These shots do bring back memories of the wonderful people I've met all over Asia.

    Very nice series

One thing that I remember about Vietnam is that the kids have a fascination with anyone carrying a camera. I cannot count how many shots I was framing, only to have a little kid with his finger pointing to himself appear in the viewfinder!

Older women however, were quite shy about being photographed... That's where, (IMO) anywhere in Asia, that a longer lens comes in handy.

Regarding the last image... That is the epitome of Vietnamese transportation... It was fun to watch entire families, dad, mom and several kids riding on a motor scooter at the same time...

RE: the last image. Here are a couple of more that I was able to capture. I even saw a guy that won a 3/4 size refrigerator in a raffle strap it the back of his scooter and head for home. WITH his kid riding on the footboard in front of him. I couldn't get a clear shot of him, but, I was REALLY impressed.

And, here is a typical family outing. If you look closely, there is a small child in front of the driver but all you can see is the small legs and feet.
