A planned indoor macro shoot didn't come off (SWMBO had thrown out the planned subject, a large house fly that had been foolish enough to fly into the kitchen and got zapped) so instead of a tethered stack of the fly with the camera on the tripod and a range of extension tubes, it was hand-held single shots outside with just the 20mm tube on the 24-85mm zoom at 75mm, for whatever alighted on the lavender.
I was pleasantly surprised with these two but it's very much easier to get the busy bees from a bit farther away using the 300mm+1.4TC and firing a fast burst while following the bee as it flits from flower to flower.
EDIT: There were reports that one or both images were not visible. I checked and the BBCodes in flickr that came up today do not match those as originally posted here.
