    More rocks

I'm having a good time with these, even though it's obvious that getting a few really finished will take hours.

Editing this one so far entailed using luminosity masks, considerable dodging and burning, and Color Efex Pro Pro Contrast and Tonal Contrast. I also boosted saturation, which I almost never do.

Nice composition. With the tendency toward pastel colors of such rocks and even plain old dirt, some boosting of saturation is quite acceptable. I reckon.

The end result is a well composed capture with great detail and pleasurable colors to the eyes.

Here's a version that's toned down a little and cropped more:

Re luminosity masks: I'm a real amateur with them, but I have been learning Tony Kuyper's TK7. I don't think I will end up using them very much. In this case, I only used them as a luminance-based way of dodging and burning.
