    The spider and the fly

When I went out to put some papers in the recycling bin this morning, my eye was caught by something moving just above the adjacent organic waste recycling bin. It was a spider attacking a small fly caught in its web.

Dashed in to the house and fitted the 30mm extension tube to the 24-85mm zoom that was on the body ready for a shoot. The physical set up precluded getting anywhere near using a tripod so these are hand-held and stacking was not possible.

Including some of the web is always a bonus with spider shots.

    Thanks Nandakumar and Geoff.

Geoff, I was quite pleased at being able to bring out the web in "The prey" but felt it lacked a connection to the spider. What I did like was the patch of blue (the organic bin lid is brown, the general recycling one is blue, so there was a bit of luck with the colours).
