This tunnel ran for 527 m / 1,730 ft underneath the City of Brockville from when it was opened in the mid 1800s through to around 1970 when the tunnel closed. It was primarily used to transport lumber from the forests north of Ottawa, Canada to this city on the St Lawrence River for transport. It was also the first railway tunnel built in Canada.
It was cleaned up and fitted with LED lighting a couple of years ago.
