That's a stunner Tom, well done.

If mine, I would have cropped 10% of right hand side and 5% off bottom edge, but that's just me.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I agree with Dave on the crop. I would also look at pulling the belly area of the bird down a touch (burn it down) as it seems a touch too "hot".

Will the shot sustain an even tighter crop? Except for the central breast, the details are sharp and the colour excellent. I find myself wanting to get a closer look.

Maybe not too much tighter than Manfred's, Trev, bearing in mind the image lore that moving things need some space to move into. Even though the bird is perhaps hovering, it is pointing straight at camera left.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The central hot spot bothered me, too. I知 afraid there is no detail there. So maybe some cloning would help, but I知 not very skilled at that...

If you shot this in raw there is likely enough to work with. I'm not sure as to which raw convertor you are using, but in Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw, push the Highlights slider to the left, probably quite far and chances are you will recover the details in the belly area.

I mostly use the converter in the Adobe CC version of Photoshop. I値l give it a whirl.

I re-processed with reduced highlights and a little less saturation, and also altered the cropping. I think the changes helped:

Much better Tom. The details in the feather, especially on the belly and tail have been brought out very nicely.

    Well done!
