nice shot. I would consider cropping out a portion off the top.

I agree on both counts. I’d take off a lot, perhaps to he brightly illuminated branch in the middle of the foliage.

My first thoughts were also to crop the top. But if that is done, what sizes are suitable? I wouldn't want to lose much from the sides.

Is this a crop or full original image size? If it hasn't already been cropped, I suppose a square crop might work? 5 x 4 ratio seems too tight at the top, assuming you still need some foreground space.

So this current image might be the best option. Maybe with a fraction less at the left side and top to give 4 x 5 ratio?

Why worry about whether it's square, 5 x 4, or 4 x 5? Unless you have to fit it to a standard frame, why not just crop it however it looks good to you? I only crop to standard dimensions when I want to use cheap standard-size frames, and it doesn't work for some images at all.

When I crop it the way I think it looks best, it looks roughly square, but I didn't check the aspect ratio

Good to see some action shots.

Any cropping from the top is going to eliminate some of the debris being thrown up into the air, which for me helps to make this image.

That was my feeling too. The sand being thrown up is the key element of this shot in my opinion.
