Shot these today at Mumbles Light on the Gower, West Wales. All shot on Canon 5D with 24-105L.

Hi Rob,

I say again, you do have some great light and coastline in Wales.

I must admit I am more of a colour man myself although I like to composition in #1 more than #2. You open up the background to show location more in #1. #3 is my favourite. I agree with Chuck it is more open. The block of land extending across the frame in #2 keeps you in the foreground whereas in #3 the small break on the right hand side allows the eye to follow the water all the way to the horizon. Lovely light.

Lovely light.

It was a lovely light, about 30mins before sunset, and some great colours. The 5D, being full-frame, gives a nice wide view. Someone yesterday on here was talking about ultra-wide lenses. I don't think you need them - #3 was shot at 40mm, and I could have gone down to 24mm. Mind you, on an APS-C camera it wouldn't look anything like that with the same lens.

Both tell different stories or at least suggest different moods. The black and white loneliness and the color is almost inviting, somewhere you'd like to picnic.

Hi Carol. Haven't heard from you for a while. Been busy?

Thank you for the comment. I like #3 too. I had to scramble up a very steep rock face to get this, and perch right on the edge to take it, as there was a metal safety rail in the way. H&S! I didn't crop the shot at all. It is as it was taken in the camera.
