    Milky Way supplementary light

So, some advice or education. I used a flashlight for under a second (used a verbalized 1001 to estimate) just at the end of a sixteen second count manual exposure. Does it make any difference if i do the supplemental light at some other time of the exposure? Just wondering for future reference.

Most of the ambient lighting on the foreground is light pollution from the local vineyards, houses and a highway along the base of the hill in the distance.

Nice shot, Trev. My opinion is that it does not make any difference - assuming that there is no significant motion of the fill-lit subject relative to the camera.

Relevant are articles on the use of fill-flash and also (sorta backwards) plain flash photography where you set the flash power for the subject but want to bring in some background with a longer shutter time.

I have a feeling that the abandoned van and the barn should better be on two view lines than one behind the other; it makes the image a bit busy and little confusing to discern ....

    I fully agree.

There was a nasty big floodlight that occupied the space between the two. The only option was to use the truck roof to block it out. I tried a number of positions, this was the best compromise as there were only a few spots I could position the camera to avoid it

I posted a new thread showing the light illuminating the truck window, you can see how bright it is.

Thanks I suspected as much, but thought it would be good to not guess.
