Whilst I reguarly shoot the mens cricket here womens cricket is being promoted so I had my first crack to help out this weekend.

The actions not so good but the great advantage is that their pitch is smaller and I'm closer. This gives a few advantages, easier isolation of the subjects, less distracting backgrounds and less cropping needed.

Here's a few of my favourites so far, the weather was overcast and drizzling, so much better than the harsh sunlight I'm normally fighting against.

Comments and suggestions welcome as always. I would be interested for views on the PP, are they too dark and is the subject standing out adequately?

I think there might be too much bottom right hand in her grip on the bat. It would explain why she is hitting the ball up in the air rather than along the turf.
    Just a thought!

    Good action shots.

I wonder if you could get away with a fraction more highlight brightness without the background becoming too prominent?

    Thanks Geoff.

I think that's what was needed, easy mask selection in PS and pushed the curve up in the lights.

That certainly looks better to me. Just a little extra often makes a big difference.

Glad to see women's sports getting more attention. In NZ the Black Ferns (the women's equivalent of the All Blacks) have a remarkable record of dominating women's international rugby - so they perform and they deserve the recognition. Thanks for taking the shots.

It was interesting to see Trev that 'Cricket Fiji' the official governing body here having downloaded a number of my images to their site did not include any of the girls

This weekend I'll concentrate 100% on the women and stop giving them these
