Two young pregnant girls

Our rescue efforts have been slowed over the last few months. Thankfully, there have not been many small dogs available but, we got a call from a Los Angeles Shelter asking us to take two pregnant females...

DAISY MAE - a Maltese Mix



CARMELLA - a Shih Tsu



These girls were rescued from a hoarder and we will care for them throughout their pregnancy and will place them and their pups after the puppies are born.

They seem healthy but, will go to our vet within the next couple of days to be checked over and to get their shots.

From what we learned, this hoarder had about 300 dogs in varying states of health. That is a big difference between your four labs or our five dogs AND SOMEONE WHO HAS 300 DOGS!!

The L.A. animal control prefers to have pregnant females to go directly to a rescue group rather than be cycled through an animal shelter. We have an appointment with the vet on Thursday. Presently, we are setting up our whelping boxes and our puppy pens to make ready for the appearance of the pups.

It is like playing Russian Roulette when you are awaiting puppies from a mother who came from an environment like they apparently were kept in. WHAT WILL THE PUPS LOOK LIKE? HOPEFULLY, THE DAD WAS NOT A PITBULL

I don't know how Carmella and Daisy Mae (our names) ended up with the hoarder but, they are very friendly and appear human oriented. Often dogs from puppy mills have personalities that are adversely impacted by their lack of human contact. THESE TWO GIRLS CERTAINLY HAVE NICE PERSONALITIES.

I gave Daisy Mae a piece of chicken jerky while I was photographing her and she has been sticking to me like glue ever since...
