    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

I don't like having a "Buy Photos" button on my smugmugmug.com galleries. I would like to remove the "Buy Photos" button from all of my smugmug galleries.

    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

I have tried to look this up using Google and smugmug.com help but, it seems that a very simple step like this is pretty complicated - if at all possible.

    Can anyone help me.

You can turn it off in the "Galleries" settings options. However I believe that you and only you, would still see the "Buy" button when you view images in your galleries. That is providing you are signed in to your SmugMug site. I'm not at my PC currently so can't give you precise details of which setting to enable/disable to remove the buy option from public view.

Hi Richard, I'm now at my PC and can give you a quick overview of how to turn off the "Buy Photo" option.

First sign in to your site.

At the top left (once you've signed in) there should be a row of buttons that start with the "SmugMug" Logo then Upload, Photos, Organise buttons etc.
    Step #1.

    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

Choose "Organise" this will then show a folder type view.

    Step #2

    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

Choose a gallery (highlight it, just click on it but don't open it) that you want to change to remove the selling option.

    Step#3
You should see a "Settings" button at the left above your galleries thumbnails. Click the settings button it then opens a separate window showing all of the editable elements of the gallery.

    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

    Step#4
Choose the "Shopping" element and you will see at the top of the page a option to turn off the ability for people to be able to purchase an image. Once you turn this off and pressed "SAVE" a visitor to your website will not see a "buy photo" button. However as I said in my previous reply that Buy Photo button will still be visible when you are signed in to your website.

    Smugmug - remove "Buy Photos"

To verify that you have removed the buy option sign out of the website, view the gallery that you just edited and the "buy photo" should not be visible. If that worked as expected you can then repeat the process for each gallery.

    I hope this helps.

I believe it's gallery settings - shopping (turn off). Not certain, but this is off on mine. If that doesn't work, email their help group.

    Clarerisa,
My answer at #2 above is correct, note that the website owner will still see the buy button when they are signed in an viewing their galleries.

You're correct Dan, it is a gallery setting as described in #2 above.
Though I'm not sure if Richard ever came back to this thread!
