Fall Colours at Mer Bleue Bog

Mer Bleue Bog is a 33.43 km2 (12.91 sq mi) protected area east of Ottawa in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Its main feature is a sphagnum bog that was formed 7,700 years ago in an ancient channel of the Ottawa River and is a remarkable boreal-like ecosystem normally not found this far south. Stunted black spruce, tamarack, bog rosemary, blueberry, and cottongrass are some of the unusual species that have adapted to the acidic waters of the bog which holds as much as 6m(20ft) of peat.
These two photos were taken along a 1.2 Km boardwalk which allows visitors to explore a section of the bog.

The leading lines work brilliantly. The autumn colours make these images.

Did you consider brightening the vegetation in the boardwalk image? Might make it a bit punchier.

I haven't been out that way for several years now. It's definitely one of my favourite areas in Ottawa to visit, but it takes close to an hour to get there from where I live, so I tend not to get out that way as often as I did when the girls were younger (i.e. 15 - 20 years ago).

The fall colours there are always gorgeous. Now you have me thinking about getting out there again.

I agree with Trevor's assessment. A couple of nice shots. Did you get anything interesting where the beavers cut paths through the reeds?

    Thanks Trevor,
I'll take another look at it. I had already boosted the saturation quite a bit and was apprehensive of overprocessing the shot.

Thanks Manfred. I took a couple of shots of a path through the reeds but they are not very good.

My wife and I grabbed our cameras and went for a drive out to Mer Bleue, inspired by your images here.

ERROR! The place was absolutely packed and we turned around at the parking lot. There were so many people that that physical distancing would have been impossible on that narrow path there.

We'll have to try it again on a weekday when there are fewer people out (I hope).

I hate to tell you this but when I went last Monday afternoon, I had to park on the street as the lot was already full. However, the NCC made the boardwalk a one way path and I must admit that most visitors were very good at respecting the distancing rule. There are several places along the boardwalk where you can sit on the side and let faster people go by.
