    On the count of three

So there I am taking pics of marathon runners and someone passes running in the opposite direction, acknowledges me and carries on down the hill. Strange I think

Some time later I hear "on the count of three" quickly look up and he's back. Luckily I've learnt that with this Z6 if you have not taken a shot for a while press the shutter whilst lifting it to your eye to activate the EVF.

As opportunistic grab shots go, this one works very well. I will definitely keep my eye on getting a mirrorless camera to supplement / replace the D810.

Good action shot; you may please crop away too much of landscape and give prominence to the action

Due to the apalling weather conditions shooting this race on Saturday I gave up attempting to use the D800 with the 70-200 and shot exclusively with the Z6 and 24-70 f/4. I missed focus on just two shots, one I never had time to move the focus point which I had inadvertantly pushed right to the edge and the other it was focussed soley on a black surface. In addition the histogram in the EVF is magic when tackling fast shooting into the light.

The only use the D800 got was two race start bursts with flash because its got the higher sync speed.

Nandakumar, technically it would be easy to do that because this shot has only been cropped very slightly to remove a power cable top left, and I would have enough pixels to retain the image quality.

But, to me, the road shows the height he has jumped having just run up a long steep hill and the landscape shows the environment in which he has be competing. A tighter crop would be another image.

I agree—I like this framing because it shows the interesting context
