    Burnstown

This small, former village is a place I stopped to take some pictures a few weeks ago, but didn't get around to processing until this afternoon. Some of the fall colours were very close to peak; the reds are the sugar maple trees.

Beautiful. I don't know if legit or not, but better without the road and the stop sign?
I also wonder if a little less foreground would make it even more WOW.

Thanks Sharon - very limited ways to shoot this scene; I am standing on a bridge over a river. I had a few compositional choices; shoot with the the ravine and trees in the foreground and get the view of the trees in the background I wanted, but with the signs.

Another choice was to shoot from the other side of the road (I was on a long (about 700 long) bridge and get the trees in the background as well as the road and signs. The composition was not nearly as strong.

    Burnstown

Finally I could get closer, but the road has a bit of a bend and while I could eliminate the signs, the trees in the background were off on the camera right side and not part of the composition.

    Burnstown

Ultimately, I chose the strongest, albeit, imperfect composition. The aerial view shows the shooting constraints.

O God, such wonderful admixture of colours....; stunning. I like other images also, and this comes at the top

What you didn’t stand IN the river? 😊
Looking at it again my thoughts were invalid, as hey a really are not distracting elements. My eyes certainly just go to the beautiful scene and colors. If i look around, sure the road and stop sign are there but it’s not what I look at.
Thanks for a great story and some beautiful shots.

Not a practical solution. The Madawaska River is deep and wide. I've done some scuba diving in it a bit farther downstream.

I liked it, but i would like to remove 1/3rd from bottom, so that it looks more like a panoramic one

Other than the first image, none of the others are much more than straight out of the camera. They were intended to show the challenges in photographing this scene and the options I looked at to get the shot. What I really needed was a large truck to park on the road to give me a shooting platform that is around 3m / 13 ft higher.
