Landscape in the north of South Australia
I took this image about 2 years ago somewhere between Blinman and Parachilna in the north of South Australia. We had crossed this dry river bed the night before, some miles back, in the dark and had concluded that the view from the top of the next hill might provide a good dawn photo opportunity.
Next morning we arrived in the dark just below the crest of the hill. We crashed our way through the bush and set up our cameras not knowing what lay before us. As the sun rose this was the scene below us.
That is NOT a muddy raging river below, it is a dry creek bed in the middle of a drought. The stench of dead kangaroos and wild goats was quite overpowering.

An interesting background story. It definitely sheds some light on the features we see in the image. It does look rather like a muddy river, rather than a dry creek bed.
If this were my image, I would spend some time burning down the bottom left area and the bottom centre. Those areas are so bright that they draw my eyes too much and I have trouble exploring the rest of the image.

It's a very beautiful scene, well taken. Maybe pushed a little too hard in pp?
Very sad story actually, the drought and dead wildlife. Terrible.
