My Nikon D90 arrived yesterday and now I need to get the memory cards.
Do I have the math right? Is it:
4GB storage = ~240 RAW photos (D90 RAW, 12MP)

Your with in the range. (I think) I'm just basing it with my 30D 8MP can fill up my 4GB with 300+/- Raw images.
Hi Chris,
I have a D5000, same sensor, same RAW file size and can confirm that's not far off - I use 8GB and although it says something like capacity of 589 when empty, in reality, I usually get 650 - 700 or so, once over 760, so halve that for 4GB.
It will depend on image content, I shoot a lot of birds against sky, forest shots with oodles of detail will get through it quicker.
Cheers,
I went ahead and ordered a 16gb card which will be plenty of capacity.
Hi Chris,
One thing to consider is that although it has plenty of capacity if something goes wrong with the card you'll have lost everything on it. Some people say it is better to have 4x4gb cards so you spread the risk.
Just something to think about even though cards are pretty reliable these days.
Regards,
Mike
I know what you mean. It's a balance between having enough capacity and losing what you have !
