The Moon Last night (Dec 5)

I'm probably obsessive about the moon, and I've had an ongoing obsession to try and photograph it every night thoughout a lunar cycle. Needless to say, I have failed.

During Nov I managed 15 nights... something of a record.

Last night I got a 10 minute gap in the cloud... but during that brief period, it was remarkably clear.

Processing on the first of the two was quite fierce according to the halo around the edge ... still, they look most impressive.

When you get your 28 images, have you thought about aligning, equalizing tone and then making a animated GIF?

When I was into watches, I often thought about a 60-image animation where the whole watch "ticked" around a stationary center-seconds hand ...

Ted, I suspect we are equally obsessive!

The two versions were posted delberately. I normally do 3 versions and as you observed the first is 'fiercely' processed.
Another aspect of my obsessive compulsion is to tick off features on my Moon atlas. Edge features, influenced by libration and full moon which tends to extremely flat illumination are challenging. I've found that the high contrast versions often let me tick a few more points.
Perversely non-photographers usualy prefer them (not surprising really)

And as regards your suggestion about animation, I had not thought of that precisely, but I do intend to produce a collage of the complete cycle..... if I live long enough to get a full cycle!

Maybe ... How's the weather in "Broomijam" these days? I lived fairly close (Swindon area) in the 50's and 60's, clouds and rain were quite plentiful there, as I recall.
