Camera/Lens Repair Shop in or near New Jersey?

Hi All,

I have a Canon EF 500mm f/4 L IS version 1 lens. Been having focusing issues for awhile and wanted to get someone to take a look at it.

Can anyone recommend a a service center that would be able to service this lens? I know canon no longer supports it.

I live in southern New Jersey.

I have no idea what's in New Jersey, but if you are willing to ship the lens, you could try Sanford Camera Repair in Arlington, MA (https://www.sanfordcamerarepair.com/), which has been in business for half a century. I've used them for repairs of both Canon and Panasonic equipment and have been pleased with their service. I'm local to them, so you would have to check whether they will deal with equipment shipped from elsewhere.

Cannot help with service options, however as the 500/4is was introduced in 1999 and the mkii was released in 2011 (key point noting replacement lens, the mkii, is approaching ten year anniversary), ensure you check with repairer that they have good access to spare parts for your lens.

DanK and William, Thank you for the feedback. I realize the lens is ancient at this point so probably not the easy to find parts. I'm going to do some additional testing this weekend but will likely reach out to Sanford to see if they would be able to service the lens.
