The sky, or is it plain, does not do much for me. I do like the colours of the rocks. How about doing some dodging and burning to really bring out the rocks. Just a thought.

Composition is fine but it all seems too blue to me. I take it the top part is plain which would be very pale sand or salt?

Is that sky or distant land, that is seen at the top? i feel both the ways about it!!!

The upper slopes appear to be in the shade which could account for the blue tint. That being said the hues found in Death Valley vary considerably based on mineral deposits. Blues and purples are present due to deposits of manganese.

yes--the area I photographed has a lot of blue, which is what attracted me. If you have never been there it is hard to imagine. This shot was late in the day so a bit hazy, which I also liked.

Agreed. A spectacular location for the landscape photographer.

I love the colour contrast, Judith, and your framing. What an amazing landscape. (I live on the Canadian prairie, so this is pretty exotic for me.) I would be tempted to play with saturation, bring out more of the reds, maybe tone down the blues a touch, and deepen the blacks and shadows. Just play, mind you, I don't know for sure that any or all of those things would amount to an improvement.

no--that is Father Crowley Overlook. It does give some great views of the jets!
