There are when shooting mirrorless cameras several ways to select the point of auto focus.

I would recommend that anyone working with a mirrorless camera become familiar with the various ways to select a point for autofocus and then to use the way that is easiest and most efficient for them...
My mirrorless Panasonic GX-7 has the touch screen and focus point movement capability. I can also move the focus point (single point of focus) on my DSLR.

Frankly, it is a slow process when compared to the single point focus / recompose approach. There are much better ways to do this.

I don't know if this function is available with other cameras but, I can view the image through my eye level viewfinder and at the same time pick out my focus point with the thumb of my right shooting hand on the LCD without looking directly at the LCD. This is the absolute fastest way for me to select any point.

Changing lenses in dusty, sandy, wet and windy environments can be done by using a transparent bag with opening in both ends for the hands - the equipment can then be handled safely inside the bag.

If you opt for a changing bag solution - Adorama has an inexpensive bag available: https://www.adorama.com/blcbs.html
