    Mellow yellow puzzle

When I bought the Canon 100S a few years ago I kept my Epson XP-960 for B&W non-photographic print jobs.

Yesterday it refused to let me print because the Yellow ink was out ... and I have printed exactly no colour jobs on it since switching (or certainly none in the last year).

Now I know that B&W printing does not mean that only the black ink is used (I think I read somewhere that this is the cause of blue and magenta casts) but it's hard to see where "out of yellow" fits here.

    Any ideas?

Bill I think you will find that all inks must be present even to print in B & W

Could be. The other thought was that since it hasn't knowingly used any coloured inks in a couple of years perhaps the yellow cartridge is dried up, which would be reporrted as out of ink.

Could be. Some printers have firmware that won’t allow the printer to function if it is out of any ink, regardless of whether that particular ink is needed for that particular file.
