Aberdour pier and lighthouse

I went out this morning at 5am to try and photograph the pier and lighthouse at Aberdour, hoping for a sunrise like the ones we have been having of late, only to be a little disappointed with the almost cloudless sky. However I have tried my best with what I had, so I hope you enjoy.

Ken, the old pier (or its remains) is nicely done, and I enjoyed the shots, but felt that the lighthouse lost out a bit to the high dynamic range of the lighting - not enough detail in the rocks and lighthouse to be about them, but not an ideal composition to give you a semi-silhouette type of picture.

The second (portait orientation) of the pier is my favourite of the set.

I left Scotland 55 years ago, Ken, to live in New Zealand. For some reason I still remember this line from the famous poem, "Half hour, half hour to Aberdour" . However I am enjoying your pics, though only on my cellphone screen at the moment. They look really great to me and I will have a look later at them later on my 4K monitor. Thanks for sharing!

I prefer the third because of the lighting.

Re Bill's comment: there is plenty of detail in the rock if you choose to bring it out. It's just a matter of selecting the rocks and changing tonality however you want to. As an illustration, I did a very quick and dirty edit, just adding contrast in separate layers to the rocks and the lighthouse. I don't know if this is to your taste, but it illustrates that you have a lot of leeway to play with this image.
