I'm not quite sure what you are looking for here. Technology is always moving ahead and we see innovation in many areas of photography.

When it comes to cameras, more and more higher end cameras are using back-side illumination sensors (BSI) which shows better colour rendition, lower SN and better dynamic range. The main upshot is that has allowed the sensor manufacturers to increase resolution with 50+MP in full-frame cameras and 150MP in medium format.

The mirrorless designs allow for additional functionality, like eye detect through improved processing capabilities. Faster burst rates through electronic shutters are another innovation.

Lenses continue to evolve. Some design constraints due to the flange to sensor distance found in DSLRs have been removed in mirrorless cameras allowing for reduced aberrations. Manufacturing technology has reduced the cost of making aspherical lens elements (casting advances) and glass technology continues with incremental improvements as well.

Some of the biggest breakthroughs are occurring in post-processing where software designers are using machine learning to add functionality. Improvements in making selections, content-aware functionality and more (think of some of the improved sharpening and resizing or sky replacement in recent versions put out by a number of suppliers).

The list goes on - nothing earth shattering here, just incremental improvements with new releases in hardware and software.

A lot of the innovation in photography these days is focused on smartphones: computational photography, optical metasurfaces, etc. Some of these technologies and approaches may end up in conventional cameras, but the cellphone photography market is vast and there are huge opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Face Recognition; Heat Imprint Recognition and Real Time Tracking via dedicated Drones, Hi Res Satellite Imaging and Remote Targeting Systems are attaining exceptional TR&D Capital Funding in many quarters: not on the retail market, but these certainly are some of the new technologies which are trending.
