Sunday in the park, on the banks of the Seine

This was taken on the Ile de la Jatte, not far from the location of the famous Seurat painting

I would have cleaned up the lower right foreground which does not add anything; and reduced the left part of the image

Yes, I like the style, but the framing and subjects size is not working for me.

My first thoughts were similar to Jean.

Maybe crop a little tighter at the bottom and right side to remove that distraction? Possibly just a fraction from the left side but that foliage tends to balance the figures so I wouldn't reduce it too much.

I agree with the comments about the bottom right part of the image, but also find that the lamp that cuts the image into two is something that does not work particularly well for me.

Yes - difficult decisions re crop, I agree about the lamp, but liked the tree that frames the shot a bit. I could not change position much as the shrubs in the borders were 3m + high, so this was the only practical viewpoint.
Perhaps the thing to do is to crop right in tight. Will have another play with it.

An intersting discussion ... As has been pointed out there are some basic compositional errors (or, to use a more gentle language, opportunities for improvement) but the image as it stands captures the moment and I don't think any of the suggested "improvements" would improve the story telling.

I'd rather look at this than a technically perfect but sterile image.

If it were mine I would remove the woman's right hand near her face for an interesting effect.

@billtils - pretty much how I saw it. The moment demanded a shot : "No, let me talk to him...", but the conditions were not ideal.

I like the image. When viewing in lightbox, the people appear to be soft.
I think bringing them more into a dominant aspect to the photo would improve it as others have suggested ... with some selective cropping. However, the overall landscape does add to the scene giving it context. I do like it.
