Re: In memory...
Wow, that's a lot of loss in such a short period of time Richard. So sorry. Brings tears to my eyes.
She's a beautiful girl.
I am so sorry.
She had a wonderful life, which matters.

Re: In memory...
My daughter realized that all of her dogs were older so, last year she adopted Duke who is a Bichondoodle: Bichon Friese + Poodle. He has become best friends with Serena.
We just lost one of our hens also - old age was the culprit. So, Judy just acquired five new little chicks to replenish our coop: two Buff Ofingtons, two Buckeyes and a Barred Rock. The Buffys lay some really large eggs and we like the personality of the Buckeyes while the Barred Rock is just for sentiments sake because that was the breed of the hen we just lost.
We have them in their own little area in our house, a large bin set up with water, food, a tree limb and a thermometer. Of course, we have a heat lamp to keep them warm and comfortable. I have the heat lamp mounted on an old camera tripod. That way we can adjust the height of the lamp to keep the chicks at the right temperature.
To keep our animals safe from coyotes. We have increased the height of the fencing around our chicken area and put coyote rollers at the top. We have also increased the height of our fence along the road and placed coyote rollers at the top.
Of course, Serena is our main defense against predators. She should be getting pretty close to sixty pounds by now. She really doesn't bark as much as the horror stories we have heard about the barking habits of Great Pyrenees dogs.
However, the other night when we look our dogs out for their last potty break, she did some serious barking and snarling at the fence line along the road. I don't know what was out there but, I suspect that it might have been a coyote. The little dogs all hovered to the rear of her and when I opened the door, they all scampered in except, Serena. She just slowly backed in; barking and snarling all the while. It seemed like she was covering the retreat of her little friends. Obviously, she is learning to be their guardian!

Re: In memory...
Lovely captures, especially the close ups on the lab.
