    Williamstown

This image is very much a fancy on my part. I liked the colours reflecting off the boats and the threatening clouds above. C&C welcome.

Interesting image, Ole. The subject matter along the bottom of the image is interesting and the sky does complement it. That being said, I suspect that this image would be stronger if much of the sky were cropped out and a 3:1 panoramic format was used.

+1 to Manfred's comments. I found my eye pulled upward by the large expanse of sky, with it's color and tonal contrast. I don't have a specific aspect ratio in mind, but if it were mine, I would try various crops.

I like it as it is.

First and foremost, it does what Ole wanted and got the boats and threatening clouds. The expanse of sky would be more of a problem were it not for the light cloud (approximately 2/3 of the way along the bottom third) that draws the eye down a bit.

Having said that, losing the black cloud at the top still leaves lots of nice cloud to enjoy ...

For me it is one of those which is most important choices between foreground (water) and background (sky).

If it was my image I would lose about half of the water and take a similar amount from the left side; which is starting to get a bit soft anyway. That would give you the best of both alternatives.

Yes, Canaletto springs to mind. I'm undecided between the original and the more pano version. Both are really excellent.
