a nice invitation to take a walk.
The shadow of the railing indicates clearly the path to follow.
Hi David,
When I'm in a situation like this, I like to try alternatives, in this case, perhaps with the camera looking along the handrail (one for each side). Did you try that?
I'd also try different camera heights for this mid-shot; mid-way and even on the floor.
Maybe you did and the results led to this one being the best choice, but I'm just suggesting that we should all 'work the scene' once an initial photo-opportunity is spotted.
I do like your shot, especially the way the walk curves in the distance, giving some mystery and inviting us to explore.
Well done,
Dave
Interesting observation - no, I didn't try alternative views, this was taken during a walk with friends who are not photographers and who tend to keep walking - unsympathetic to my taking my time for a shot. Almost all of my best shots result from going out alone - I tend to feel under pressure to hurry when in a group. Ours is not a social activity !!!
I agree. My wife is tolerant of my unpredictable stops, but otherwise, I generally only carry my main camera when walking either alone or with other photographers.unsympathetic to my taking my time for a shot. Almost all of my best shots result from going out alone - I tend to feel under pressure to hurry when in a group.
I like this shot, but why not lighten the shadows to bring out more of the leading lines? e.g, something like this quick-and-dirty edit:
Very nice view
