Interesting piece of history. The ovens were fired to make charcoal which was then used to process ore mined locally. In the short period the ovens were active, 35 acres of forests were cut.

Interesting cone shaped structures Judith. The image appears to be a little bright. As a starting point I would be inclined to burn in the foreground sage brush and sky and perhaps add a little warmth to the image.
Been through Ely a couple of times, Highway 50 is a great road.

Interesting shot.
I don't think it's bright. leaving out the sky, I don't find anthing with a luminance value greater than 65 of 100, and even with the bright sky included, the histogram doesn't come close to clipping. I think the issue is that the white balance is way off. I don't know what the scene looked like, and there is no clearly neutral area, but using what appeared to be a relatively neutral stone, I got +15 in temperature (toward yellow) and -15 in tint (toward green) in Adobe Camera Raw, using the white balance tool. Lightroom would be identical. That looked more normal to me, but it's probably not entirely right. The image is also quite flat, so I added some midtone contrast with a curves tool. Those two adjustments produced this:
The lack of shadows is relevant to the contrast, but not to white balance. WB changes rapidly around sunset, and whatever WB setting you used wasn’t correct at the time of the shot.
