    1954 Cossart Bual Madeira Wine

I'm playing with some lighting ideas that I learned at an advanced lighting course that I am taking.

The bottle is standing on a sheet of black Plexiglas and a piece of black velvet is the backdrop. Two angled soft boxes at an angle and behind the subject and one on each side of it. The lights are being fired through a diffusion screen.

Well lit Manfred, the bottle looks unopened, quite a feat to remain so for sixty seven years.

Yes, the setup is complex and finicky. I'm not 100% happy with it. Here is a shot of the setup I used.

While the vintage is 1954, the stuff sat around aging in a cask until 1986; i.e. 32 years, when it was bottled. I bought it in 1992, when we were in Madeira, so I've only had to resist opening it for 29 years. A scary thought; the grapes were being picked around the time I was born...

Madeira wines can apparently last decades, if not centuries, after being opened due to the oxidization process they go through during production. This was a "once in a decade" vintage so this one definitely is a bottle that can be aged for at least a century.

Excellent reproduction of the roundness of the bottle.
