Lightroom Gradient Filter problem

I think the clouds are an improvement over your original, as are the missing boats. I still don't like the heavy dark line at the horizon, but that is personal taste.

I had no idea where Unmesh was from; I find his videos are some of the best ones for learning about some of Photoshop's hidden gems. The closest I've gotten to your part of India was Assam. Visiting the Sunderbans was always on my list of places to visit, but with COVID and my getting older, it may not happen.

Please note that I have checked very closely and in the RAW itself, the horizon line is pretty dark. If I remember correctly, it was the effect of the huge cloud that had been engulfing the sky above the horizon.


Assam is a neighbouring state of mine. To be precise, one of the North-Eastern neighbours. It has some famous wildlife sanctuaries but I am yet to visit any of those. Please do not lose hope, you can surely come to the Sundarbans once this pandemic no longer remains a fatal threat. The mangrove forest of the Sunderbans is one of a kind in the world. Though a larger part is now part of neighbouring Bangladesh.

@Dan, thank you so much for your kind gesture. I shall surely give the free version a try as paid versions are beyond my reach considering the price when converted to my country's currency. Though whatever little I have understood about these panels, is that I need to go through some sort, of course, to fully utilize their potential.

Check the free download. My recollection is that it comes with some of Sean Bagshaw's video tutorials, which are superb.

A few things strike me when I look at your latest image. The horizon looks clean and free of the gradient issues you had before, although there is still a dark area along the horizon, which may or may not be 100% natural.

There are areas of the dark clouds that seem a bit too dark for me, but I have not seen any rain storms like this over sub-tropical areas of the ocean, so can't really tell if this is true for where you shot. The bottoms of rain clouds in the distance can be quite dark.

The other area that looks a bit strange are the bands of falling rain. Those bands that I have seen tend to be all running in the same directions, driven by both the prevailing winds and the direction of the sunlight, so this is something that may be correct for what you recorded.

I can assure you that the thin dark line at the horizon is present in the RAW file too. I have not changed the direction of rainfall in any way. I have darkened the cloud as you have suggested which might have darkened the right side cloud too, but I have not specially treated that ball of cloud.

So, apart from these three issues, in your opinion, there is no other problem with the photo?
