Thanks, Jim. I'm still uncertain about this image. I took about 30 photos of model airplanes flying in the park on the same day—different planes and angles. One is a straight-on shot. Going to try a composition in a few days and add a plane or planes and see what happens. Might be interesting.

I love this image Daniel. The angle and the minimalist approach is perfect. At first I wasn't sure about the blank sky, but looking at it again it works well. Very nicely done.

I like minimalism in photography (and other things too), but there is a fine line between being minimalist and the image not working well enough.

I find that this image is on the wrong side of that line for two main reasons"

1. Negative space is very important in an image like this one, but the sky is quite boring and does not add. Go back and shoot on a day where the cloud cover has more texture and the image will be a lot stronger; and

2. The structure under the bridge is very interesting, but it gets all dark and messed up the farther right that your eyes go. Open up those areas and the image will be stronger.

I did a quick edit of what I am thinking using Photoshop's sky replacement:

That's one of the possibilities. Not sure how much I can increase the size. Will start with one plane. Could wind up with a sky full of planes buzzing about. Would do it for fun to see what turns out. The large negative space doesn't seem right to me.

Thank you Manfred for your response. I never viewed this image as a minimalist image. For me, it was just a picture of the bridge at a nice angle with a lot of negative space. Never thought of a classification. I did think it needed something.
I agree with your assessment and I appreciate the clarity and confirmation it provided. Will take other pictures at this location under different weather conditions. Who knows, I might snag a plane leaving LaGuardia airport in the image. Thanks again, Daniel
