    Abandoned house : staircase

    Abandoned house : staircase

A rather nice large house/small chateau not far from my home standing in several acres - left to rot. The roof is still mostly sound, so the interior is mainly dry, but much has been vandalised. Hard to imagine why someone would abandon a property like that.

Fabulous photo and story. If you are on Facebook there is a group called Abandoned Aesthetics where this kind of photo would fit in well

Very interesting, and very well composed.

Were it mine, I'd bring up the shadows. You're losing a lot of interesting texture now.

+1 to Dan's comments. The textures are very important. I might also consider burning down the bright wall a bit on the right had side (not a lot, maybe around 1 stop).

Very cool image. While I can understand the comments about bringing up the shadows for me the shadows add to the mysterious and abandoned character of the photo and story.

Why abandoned is a good question, why vandalized is another. Not sure what is wrong with people.

Such a spooky, atmosphere; it would be perfect for a ghost story. My imagination is off to the races already in terms of what history, dark secrets it holds. Great photo!

Would love to know where the stairs on the RHS go to.

I keep expecting someone to come down the stairs holding an ax. Good backdrop to set up a photo. Maybe add an old doll on the stairs or some other prop to the scene.

And, like all dark horror movies, colorized in the dreaded Teal and Orange ...

Ted, I recently saw a trailer for a movie and immediately remembered your reference a few weeks ago to the Dreaded Teal and Orange!

And the reference is about eleven years old and they're STILL doing it!

Meanwhile, recent Sigma cameras actually have Teal and Orange as one of their Color Modes !!

Manfred, I think the local fire department and gendarmerie would take a dim view of anyone attempting to burn down any walls, even if the house has a history of abandonment and vandalization! LOL

Ha ha! Should I suggest the walls need to be darkened a little using local exposure adjustment techniques? Burning down is a lot faster to type...
