    Kids and Glowsticks

I found a Shutter Speed homework assignment on a tutorial i'm looking at, and I took the kids to the park and did some long exposure pics of them holding glowsticks and I loved the results. I know there's room for improvement and i need more technical work on it (this was the first attempt, after all), and I'm sure i can choreograph some better shots, but even after one practice shoot I can just see how much potential there is in something like this.

I personally love the swings picture because it communicates the personalities of all three of my kids without actually seeing them.

I see the glow sticks, but not the kids.

The bright sky in the first and third one are quite distracting, the second one is okay and the last one is very nice.

Yeah, this was very spontaneous and experimental, so when i try this again (and i will be doing it again) I'll be able to play with my settings a little more.

This kids move to fast in the dark exposure to be seen, which is kind of cool, i think.

I like what you did for your assignment. The second image showing the movement of the kids is pretty neat. It all looks like a lot of fun.

If you use flash and use the "rear curtain / second shutter" mode on your camera, you can capture the kids at the end of the run with the light sticks and get a combination image. It will take some practice getting the flash amount just right.
