    Ancient Orkney

St Magnus Cathedral featured in the earlier post is pretty old by some standards but a youngster in Orkney. Here are a few really old ones:

    Stenness Standing Stones:

    Ancient Orkney

    Ring of Brodgar:

    Ancient Orkney

    Broch of Gurness

Another fine set. You had a good trip, photographically speaking, Bill.

Thanks Donald - I do believe that it turned out that the photography took second place to Orkney's history and land/sea scapes!

I've always said that there are so many Orkney's. There's the photographer's Orkney, there's the birdwatcher's Orkney, the archeologist's, the angler's, the gourmet's, etc. A marvellous place in such a small area of the world.

Great series. Definitely, a place I would like to go to. Might have the chance this year if I can get away to visit my friend in Ireland.
