    Another heads-up... Adobe camera raw.

    Recent updates to Photoshop/ACR have on my setup at least changed the default when opening a DNG in ACR to 8 bit instead of 16 bit.

    Might be worth checking your settings.

    Mine too; it reset a number of other of my settings back to the defaults. Grrrr!

    I may be wrong, but this might be one of the rare differences in the engines underneath the Lightroom and ACR interfaces. I only had a few minutes to look, but after chancing ACR, I checked Lightroom, and it seems that LR is always 16 bit internally. I couldn't find a bit-depth setting in LR, and the first hits when I searched on the web described the processing at 16-bit.

    Does that also apply for CR2 files, and how do you check?
