Themed Photo Challenge #12: NATURE ABSTRACTS

This challenge theme is: Nature Abstracts
The closing date will be: 18th January 2011

There are a few rules;
A) Photographs must be shot after the theme was announced on 17th December 2010
B) Photographs should be posted in this thread before the closing date (don't leave it too late)
C) If a person enters more than one picture, each should be in a separate post
D) No voting for your own photograph(s)
E) Since many do already, it seems only fair that everyone entering should cast votes (for each other's efforts)

Voting;
When announced, voting (open to any member) will be by Private Message (PM) to Dave Humphries, over a period of two days or so. This will ask you to state your favourite three photographs in '1st, 2nd, 3rd' order by "V number" reference. Scoring will be done the '3, 2, 1' points way.

Theme topics;
The winner of this challenge should then send me a PM with a theme suggestion for a subsequent challenge.

This theme was chosen by Jens who won the #10 challenge in mid-November.

the zizag lines express unstability of the foreground+feer of falling and being swallowed.the unpresence of white lowers the contrast and enhances the feeling of a greyish implied but not stated space arround wich fortifies the idea of fear that no body is around to help! this abstract makes me shiver from cold and feer.without the two lines ,the composition would have been monotonous andthe space division would have lost a lot of its strength.

this photo gathers strongly all perspective rules that are used to cheet the eye and let it feel the presence of an unreal virtual 3rd dimention(depth)in a two dimentional design.
1.details diminish as objects receed 2-all dimentions in the x,y,and z reduce in size as objects receed 3-the more we go into the background haze increaces(airial perspective).this photo could be used to teach perspective rules and there meaning to art students.
second,i feel that the first cross tells us the story of any other cross in the photo.the first cross with its shadow shape and its underground hidden secret is being repeated all over .the pattern created is very strong and unifies all the burried.the king and the pesant are one in DEATH.the extreem freezing cold emphasises the idea of DEATH wich is the end of all motion and wormth.you can still talk a lot of what this photo expresses.time and calm meditation are what you need.for example,all the photo is mainly slidind to the right vanishing point.suddenly ,your eye is taken by footsteps crossing from right to left and stabilising the composition from slipping to the right vanishing pt.by creating like a strong crossing pt. between the first two crosses lined up to the right.each time you look at that photo you see something new encreasing its value either artistic or meaninfull.

Welcome to the CiC forums.

As you are quite new, you may not appreciate that this being a thread in the competitions section of CiC, we do not normally go into comment on the pictures here, especially not before voting has occurred.
