Jazz singer Sandra Nkaké at the Limoges jazz festival

It's been a few weeks since I posted, but I've been hyper busy. Last part of November was the Limoges jazz festival and the official photographers for the event were our collective. 20 concerts over 2 weeks, minus a couple of cancellations due to Covid, but still a huge task. 6 of us divided up the concerts between us so that there were always at least 2 present. I did 8 in the end. Since then 2 photo club outings and a club studio portrait session to organise. ...and preparations for Xmas of course !

Here's a starter : Singer Sandra Nkaké who had her own concert but also sang with the band Ji Dru. This is from that latter concert. An amazing voice and presence.

Obviously difficult lighting conditions but this image looks good to me.

That's the trouble with live music shots, you cant control the lighting. This was VERY low level, ISO4000 f5.6 1/60s, but I liked the back light on her hair. I've boosted the luminosity of her face which was quite lost in OOC and also toned down her left hand which had caught the light too much.

You did well with the terrible lighting. I do like the way that the back-lighting hits the singer's hair and makes for an interesting hair light. The only small issue is the lack of separation of the microphone from the singer's face. You almost, but not quite got it.
