    A Mono Image from 2021

I was quite pleased with this church composition which seems to me to have 3D depth. It also pleased the visiting judge in a local club competition, in which it was entered with the title "Trunk Route to Church":

    A Mono Image from 2021

Image captured using a Pentax KP DSLR with a Pentax HD 40mm Limited prime lens and processed in PaintShop Pro 2021 aided by the Nik Silver Efex Pro plug-in.

Indeed, Philip. The trees, the spaces between them and the fact that one is on each side of the path, plus the path itself all contribute to the sense of depth achieved in the frame and they pull the eye towards the church. Good composition.

Plus one to Donald's comment. I also think that the light on the church pulls the eyes toward it and contributes to the 3D effect. Well done.

I edited the image only in monochrome at the time, but here's a quick colour edit:

Thanks for posting the coloured version Philip. I really like the depth of both images. Given that you are using a crop sensor camera, the 40mm focal length has worked remarkably well. This depth is something that is usually associated with a wide angle lens.

I slightly prefer the B&W version over the colour one.

I particularly like the monochrome image because of the mood it evokes .... a feeling of solemnity.

I liked both, yes, your effort on monochrome is praiseworthy
