Photoshop color space bug
There was an earlier thread (I don't recall who started it) by someone who found that after an update, his ACR color preferences in Photoshop had been reset to 8-bit. I posted that mine was OK.
It turns out that this bug is widespread, and I simply checked mine too early. I checked both of my computers today, and both had been reset not only from 16-bit to 8-bit, but also from ProPhoto RGB to Adobe RGB.
It's easy to fix. Go to Photoshop preferences and pick ACR from the bottom of the menu. Then pick "workflow”, and you should see the drop-down lists for both color space and bit depth.

Re: Photoshop color space bug
It seems to happen when there is a major update to PS/ACR. Interim updates don't affect it at least on my system.

Re: Photoshop color space bug
I checked both of my computers and had no such issue. The bit-depth and colour space did not change during the major system updates from Adobe.
As Dan mentioned, no big deal to fix this "issue" as I flip between ProPhoto RGB and Adobe RGB as my default working spaces, so I am into that screen quite often.
