    Image Comparison - Wow!

There many ways to actually compare images, layer modes, difference engines and the like.

But the reason I say "Wow" is because I just tried an app that can look for and show images on your drive that are identical or similar - even if they have different filenames, pixel sizes or formats!! Voila:

    Image Comparison - Wow!

    The app I'm trying is:

    https://www.bolidesoft.com/imagecomp...omparison.html

It is quite speedy. It searched through some 3000 images in about 3 and a half minutes. But of course there are others.

Apologies from beyond the pale if this is nothing new to anyone.

Excellent. I love how it thinks a garden shed is similar to a band playing on stage

Seriously this is quite a good idea

Yes, I wondered about that especially as I had selected 'identical' for the criterion.

Thanks, I thought it was worth sharing. One thing it does is detect files in any folder that is linked to an HTML page so some care is needed in reviewing the results ...

Perhaps the display order is based on path or file names, and there could be options to change that?

I won't even be able to test it out, programs for ms-windows don't always run on Linux

Yes, Remco, the sort order can be changed to that in a file menu item - I just used the default - "Duplicates Found".
