Hadiya woman with her young child
I'm working my way through some of the images I captured in Ethiopia about 8 years ago. I would love to go back, but with a civil war raging there right now, revisiting old images is as good as it is going to get.
Here is a Hadiya woman with her young child.
The Hadiya are an ethnic group that live in the south-western part of the country. This is an existing light shot taken in one of their houses.

This is a very striking candid portrait.
Were it mine, I would dodge a bit on the shadowed parts of the faces--not enough to undo the uneven lighting, but enough to make the shadows a bit less of a draw to the eye.

Excellent image. To me, it's a stronger image today than when it was taken. Time and war have added uncertainty to their story.
