The Ziro Valley of the Indian state of Arunachel Prasesh is the home of the Api Tani people. Facial tatoos and nose plugs were the traditional facial decorations used by these people. Discouraged by the Indian government, this tradition is dying out and it is hard to find anyone who is not in their 60s or older with these markings.
We were in that part of the world about 7-1/2 years ago and I am updating many of my images.
